Summary

Match Burnham sparked Liberty to a 2A subregional championship on Saturday. Burnham totaled 22 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, and the Lancers beat Northwest Christian for a third time this season, 70-61 at Whitman College in Walla Walla.

Liberty shared the ball extremely well; Jake Pottratz added six assists and Clay Fleming dished out five.

The Lancers made their breakthrough in the third quarter, where they outscored the Crusaders 19-8 to turn a 36-35 halftime lead into a 55-43 advantage. Kyle King scored 21 points, as he made five out of six three-point tries and six out of seven free throws.

David Olds led all scorers with 23 points for NWC, while Ryan Ricks dropped in 17 and Asher Cox scored 10.

Both schools advance to the regional round, where Liberty will go in as the No. 1 seed and NWC will be No. 2.
