Summary

Keelie Lawler had 11 points and seven rebounds as Timberlake nipped Fruitland 47-43 Thursday in the opening round of the State 3A Tournament at Skyview High School in Nampa.

After the Tigers spotted the Grizzlies a 14-10 first-quarter lead, they went on an extended 31-19 run through the middle of the game. Timberlake made seven threes, compared to just two for Fruitland, with Lawler, Shelby Starr and Payten Rhodes making two long-balls each. Rhodes added 10 points for the Tigers, while Allison Kirby tallied seven points, six boards and four assists.

Timberlake will now play Filer Friday at 6:15 MST in the quarterfinals.
