Summary

Tyler Axtell scored 21 points, Andrew Kramer had 18, and Riverside staved off a Medical Lake rally to win 61-55 Tuesday at West Valley in a District 7 1A Tournament semifinal.

This was the third meeting between the two teams in the last week. Medical Lake won the previous two.

The Rams' hot shooting buoyed them to a 38-20 halftime advantage, but they were pegged back by the Cardinals, who eventually took the lead in the fourth quarter. With Medical Lake up one in the final minute, Brandon Morris stepped up and drained a three with 38 seconds on the clock to put the Rams back in front. After Medical Lake missed the front end of a one-and-one, Axtell was able to ice the game at the line.

Axtell also had seven assists and seven rebounds, while Kevin Huggins contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds for Riverside. Tellas Johnson led all scorers with 25 for ML.

The Rams will now take on Lakeside Friday night in the District Championship, while Medical Lake faces a loser-out contest with Freeman on the same evening.
