Summary

Cody Peplinski had a big night and came up big down the stretch, as host St. George's held off Lind-Ritzville Sprague 48-45 in a District 7 2B postseason game.

Peplinski led the Dragons with 20 points and six rebounds. St. George's started strong, as they took a 30-18 lead into the halftime break. The Broncos fought back in the third, thanks to the strong play of Jacob Saetre and Cort Ruzicka, to set up a grandstand finish. LRS was never quite able to reclaim the lead, though. Peplinski sank a pair of free throws to give St. George's a three-point cusion with 10 seconds remaining, and the Broncos' last-gasp three bounced off.

Felix Tsai added 10 points and eight assists for the Dragons. Saetre led LRS with 15 points, and Ruzicka had 12 points and seven boards.

The Dragons out-rebounded their guests 34-23 on the night.

St. George's next plays Wilbur-Creston Saturday at Reardan, with both teams assured of a trip to the subregionals. LRS will meet Colfax in a loser-out game the same day.
