Summary

Mead recorded its first shutout of the season in a 2-0 nonleague victory over host Bothell on Saturday. The Panthers preserved the clean sheet and maintained their 2-0 advantage when Ashlyn Juul repelled a penalty kick in the 60th minute. Mead (3-3) opened the scoring a half-hour into the match when freshman Katie Kuka prodded home the rebound from Molly Carpenger's shot. The visitors doubled their advantage minutes before the hour mark. Three-year starter Alex Chambers delivered a corner to the top of the 6-yard box that sophomore Kaylyn Thompson met on the volley. Thompson, who lost her marker with her run, left the Bothell goalkeeper with no chance to save the shot. Aurora Mackie-Mueller got the start between the sticks for Mead and made 4 saves. Juul finished with 2, including the pk save.
