Behind play from seniors Kazlyn Roullier (12 kills, four blocks) and Kara Nitteberg (20 kills, five aces), Central Valley earned its first league title in school history with a four-set victory over visiting University. Both teams entered the match undefeated, and with the Greater Spokane League title on the line, but it was the Bears (9-0 in league, 23-1-1 overall) that earned the No. 1 seed, and the right to host Saturday's District 8 4A tournament. University (8-1, 24-3) was led by Alex Douglas (12 kills, 10 assists) and Rachael Schlect (seven blocks, seven kills). University will face No. 3 seeded Gonzaga Prep on Saturday, the Bears await the winner of Thursday's match between No. 4 Mead and No. 5 Lewis and Clark.
