Summary

Jake Straughan scored the game's first eight points, finished with 25, and Colton captured the State 1B boys title with a 59-46 win over Pomeroy at the Arena.

It was the fourth meeting this year between the Southeast 1B League foes. Pomeroy won the first three, but had no answer for Straughan and Dalton Patchen in the title game.

Straughan powered the Wildcats' offense throughout. He hit three 3-pointers in the first quarter. He scored 13 in the first half and 11 more after halftime. Patchen added 21 points and 19 rebounds, and his four-point play at the second-quarter buzzer gave Colton a 28-18 lead.

Pomeroy's Tyson Feider hit a jumper with 5:50 left in the fourth quarter to bring the Pirates within two points, but Pomeroy went scoreless over the next 5 minutes as Colton pulled away.

Cody LaMunyan had 16 points and 11 rebounds and Riley Bott added 12 points for Pomeroy.
