Summary

Morton-White Pass hit key shots late and used stifling defense in the second half to get past La Conner 42-36 in a 2B girls elimination game at the Arena.

Whitney Elledge scored 16 points to lead the Timberwolves. She made just 2 of 12 shots from the floor, but was 10 of 11 from the free-throw line.

With Morton-White Pass leading 37-33 late in the fourth, Darian Atkinson hit a 3-pointer to extend the Braves' lead to seven with 1:20 left. La Conner's Katie Novak responded with a minute left, hitting a 3-pointer several feet beyond the arc.

Morton-White Pass burned most of the shot clock on the ensuing possession. The ball eventually made its way to Ashley Kelly, who drove the baseline and found Samantha Eveland alone under the basket. She made the lay-in to cap the scoring.

The Braves went ice cold in the second half. They made 4 of 21 shots from the field, including just 1 of 11 3-pointers. They went scoreless for the first 5 minutes of the final quarter.

Anna Cook tallied a team-high 12 points and 13 rebounds for La Conner.

Morton-White Pass will meet DeSales in Saturday morning's fourth/sixth-place game. Tip-off is set for 8 a.m.
