Summary

Lakeside built a big first-half lead behind a strong scoring effort from Ryan Quigley and held on for a Northeast A League win over host Newport on Thursday night.

Quigley scored a game-high 18 points and added four rebounds for the Eagles (6-1, 3-0), who also received big scoring contributions from Cameron Gay (13) and Dominique Watson (11).

Kyle Zorica scored 17 points and added three steals for Newport (4-3, 1-2), which fell short after battling back from a 24-11 first-quarter deficit. The Grizzlies' John Lyon added 15 points on five 3-pointers.
