Summary

The Wildcats overcame the Knights' early onslaught and came alive after halftime to capture their fifth consecutive state championship in the girls 1B title game Saturday at the Arena.

Sunnyside Christian opened the game on a 10-0 run and Colton's chances of cutting the nets down for the fifth year in a row looked very much in doubt.

The Wildcats, however, stayed the course. Paige Vincent and Kaitlin Druffel hit back-to-back 3-pointers late in the first quarter to bring Colton to within four points at 12-8.

The Wildcats trailed 24-21 at halftime, but seized control in the second half. Colton ended the game on a 20-6 run, thanks in part to Jenna Moser, who sank several key shots.

Moser finished with a game-high 20 points and collected seven rebounds. Paige Vincent added 19 points for Colton, including 3 of 5 3-pointers. The Knights were led by Katelyn Banks' 13 points and Stormee Van Belle's 11 rebounds. Van Belle, who led the Knights with a points-per-game average of 16.5 during the regular season, was held to six points.
