Wilbur-Creston jumped out to a 21-13 halftime lead and never trailed in the second half as they defeated Pateros for third place in the WIAA 1B Girls State Basketball tournament.
Lauren Leyva and Alex Potts each led the Wildcats with nine points as no player from either team scored in double figures. Katarina Wilson led the Nannies with nine points and teammate Lorie LeDoux collected eight rebounds.
Wilbur-Creston went to the free-throw line early and often as 15 of their 35 points came via the free throw. Potts nearly managed a double-double as she managed to accumulate 10 rebounds.
Both team's defenses plays well as the squads combined to make just 18 of 94 shot attempts.
