Summary

Chanel Knight made a game-winning layup as time expired and Northwest Christian advanced over Pe Ell to the WIAA 2B Girls State Basketball championship.

Up 46-45, Pe Ell's Sami Robinson missed two free throws with 10.1 seconds left after being intentionally fouled. Pe Ell retained possession but turned it over after Rachel Bozlee stole the ball soon after the inbounds.

Northwest Christian's initial game-winning attempt from Maria Guske was no good and the ball was knocked out of bounds off the Trojans with 3.3 seconds left. Maria Guske inbounded the ball to Knight who missed her first attempt, collected the offensive rebound and kissed her second attempt off the glass for the eventual game winner.

Pe Ell's Alissa Brooks Johnson scored a game-high 20 points and recorded nine rebounds. In a balanced scoring attack for the Knights, six players scored five or more points. Guske led the team with 11 points.

Pe Ell held a 45-39 lead with 2:35 left before field goals by Guske and Courtney Gray cut the lead to one. The Knights finished the game on an 8-1 run.
