Gonzaga Prep 51, Columbia River 48: Reed Hopkins hit two key outside jump shots in the final 2 minutes, 40 seconds, and the Chieftains missed a game-tying 3-pointer with one second to go as the Bullpups got out of Tacoma with a consolation victory.

After Columbia River cut it to 45-42, Hopkins’ first jumper was a big one. With the shot clock winding down to two seconds, his fallaway 14-footer hit nothing but net.

And on the Bullpups’ next trip, he was left alone on the left baseline, and he drilled a 16-footer to push Gonzaga Prep’s lead to 49-42 with 1:33 to go.

Columbia River went on a 6-0 run, capped by Torey Jones’ 3-pointer with six seconds remaining to slice it to 49-48. But after being immediately fouled, Ryan Alexander made both free throws on the other end for the Bullpups.

Andrew Vickers game-tying attempt from the right side banked off the glass too strong for the Chieftains.
