Summary

Max Hess scored a career high 20 points and Brandon Petterson sealed the game with a defensive rebound followed by two crucial free throws in the final seconds as host Mead edged Gonzaga Prep in a Greater Spokane League thriller.

With both teams trading leads in the fourth quarter Gonzaga Prep had a one point lead and the ball with just under a minute left. The Bullpups worked the shot clock down to six seconds when the Panthers' Mitchell Banaugh forced a critical turnover and fed the ball to Hess who converted a layup and drew the foul. Hess hit the free throw to complete the three point play to put Mead up by two. On the ensuing Bullpup possession, Brendan McClary's layin attempt rolled off the rim and was hauled in by Petterson.

Ryan Alexander led the Bullpups (2-2, 2-2 Greater Spokane League) with 14 points. The Panthers (3-2, 2-1 GSL) were 10 for 10 from the free throw line and forced 11 turnovers in the win.
