Summary

Freeman staged a second half comeback to beat Granger at the SunDome 49-39. The Scotties (1-0) were missing several athletes who were with the football team, but some unexpected players stepped up. Backup point guard Ryan Maine, a freshman, stepped in and scored 24 points, including 12-of-13 from the free throw line. Maine also had six rebounds, six assists, and four steals. His contributions helped Freeman erase an 11-point halftime deficit to win by 10. Michael Pierce added 12 points and Jake Phitts chipped in 11 as well.
