Summary

The offense was late arriving but the defense was on time as the Bulldogs overcame a slow start to eliminate the Braves.

Although Dayton scored just two points in the first quarter, LaConnor managed just eight in each of the first two periods and half that in the third. When the Braves managed to recover from an eight-point deficit to close within one on two free throws from Landy James with 36 seconds left, Dayton closed out the game by getting four free throws from Garett Turner.

James, who finished with a game-high 17 points, hit a 3-pointer at the end to make it close. Teammate Mike Wilbur added 11 points but the Braves shot just 34 percent. The poor shooting included an 0-12 performance from 3-point range in the first half.

Turner led Dayton with 16 points and Hayden Fullerton had 11.
