Summary

For the first time in the state tournament, the Colton Wildcats found themselves tested. And behind 12 points from Haley Moser and 10 from McKenzie Heaslet found themselves up to the task, beating the Knights to advance to the state championship game.

The Wildcats started slow, trailing 3-1 for the first four minutes of the opening quarter. But a quick 8-0 run by the Wildcats set them out in front 9-3 and they did not trail the rest of the way.

Colton led by as many as 11 in the second half, but the Knights rallied from down 38-27 to score eight straight and pull within three with 16 seconds remaining. They put Moser to the line to shoot free throws and the Colton junior responded by hitting both attempts to clinch the game with eight seconds left on the clock.

Analisa Van Oostrum paced Sunnyside Christian with 10 points and five rebounds. Jenna Moser added eight points for the Wildcats.

Colton will next play for the state title Saturday at 3 p.m., while the Knights will battle for third place at 11:15 a.m.
