Summary

Kyle McKnight scored 12 points and hit a pair of game-clinching free throws down the stretch as the Braves weathered a late run by Adna to eliminate the Pirates from the State 2B boys' bracket.

After trailing the enitre game, Adna took its first lead on a 3-pointer by Coulsen Kohler, who had seven points for the Pirates. La Conner responded quickly, rattling off an 8-0 run to take the lead for good, going up by five on the free throws from McKnight with 18 seconds left in the game.

The Braves led by as many as 11 in the game, but let Adna back into the game with a 7-0 scoring run by the Pirates. That was followed by five consecutive points from Kohler to give the Pirates their first lead.

Nate Trotter once again led the Pirates with 13 points and 13 rebounds, but was held to five points and four boards in the second half, despite holding a size advantage against the Braves' front line.

La Conner also got eight points and five boards from Landy James, and will get the chance to bring home hardware Saturday in the fourth-place game at 8 a.m.
