Summary

The Darrington Loggers converted 8 of 10 free-throw attempts in double overtime to hold off the White Swan Cougars, who missed a pair of free throws in the final 10 seconds.

Darrington guaranteed itself the highest state tournament finish in school history by securing the semifinal berth against Reardan tonight.

The Cougars led 54-52 in the final 25 seconds of regulation on a pair of free throws by guard Sophia Perez. After a timeout in front of their bench, the Loggers managed to find Hailey Wales alone underneath the basket for an easy layin with 17.1 seconds remaining to force the first overtime.

Darrington freshman Amy Miles hit the second of two free throws with 5.4 seconds left in the first overtime to force a second 4-minute extra period.

Wales was 4 for 4 in the second overtime while Rene Cousins added two free throws and a field goal.
