Summary

Two highly touted teams, with just two losses apiece, squared off early in a tightly contested 2B girls tournament game. And neither could mount much offense early.

The Bears rallied in the second quarter for a 17-16 halftime lead and again rallied back in the final quarter.

They trailed just 32-30 with under five minutes remaining, but had trouble getting shots and the Toutle Lake pulled away. Trailing by six points, Brewster missed a layin with a little over 2 minutes remaining. Toutle Lake scored thereafter to put the game away.

The Ducks had balanced scoring with Christian Carlson and Shelby Wason in double figures. Brewster relied heavily on leading scorer Becky Mae Taylor who led all players with 19.

The Bears 6-foot freshman point guard, Chandler Smith, who averages 17.5 points, per game, had a tough night. She scored just four points and Brewster had trouble getting into its offense.

The Ducks play Lake Roosevelt in a 2B girls semifinal at 7:15 p.m. Brewster plays Adna at 12:15 p.m.
