The permanently green football field at Wellpinit High School is courtesy of a grant from the National Football League, shown Friday, Sept. 9, 2022. The artificial turf makes Wellpinit the envy of tiny schools dotting Eastern Washington, where virtually every field is brown and dead by September. Wellpinit hosted the first game on the field Friday.
