Spokane’s NorthTown Mall has a new owner. Kohan Retail Investment Group purchased the property.

2019 - Northtown Mall is a major shopping destination at holiday time, offering more than a million square feet of shopping and entertainment under one roof with ample free parking. It is the largest mall in Eastern Washington. It started as an Albertson’s grocery store and a few shops in the 1950s.

Iron Workers set the last beam in 1992 for Northtown Mall's expansion. Berkley Construction Inc. the contractor for the project said 3,640 tons of steal- more than 7 million pounds were used for the job which took more than 400,000 hours of work.

Eager for a peek at circus clowns in the midst of this throng, these hundreds pack into a mall area at Northtown shopping center in 1966. On display was an old time circus parade that served as a preview to the Shrine Circus, opening a three day run at the Coliseum.

Wide pedestrian malls were a new feature at the Northtown regional shopping center in 1962. Pictured here is a store-lined mall linking stores fronting on Division with Sears Roebuck & Co., which faces Lidgerwood. Nearby is "Fountain Square" with an 18-foot decorative fountain. Concrete planter boxes of varying sizes and shapes are placed throughout the malls and will contain seasonal flowers as well as evergreen shrubs.
