Lawrence Killingsworth, photographed Sept. 14, is retired and an avid woodworker. Killingsworth carved this piece in the early 1970s to depict himself when he got older with white hair and a bushy white mustache. Killingsworth has dabbled in furniture and other wood projects. Now he makes whimsical wooden birds in his basement wood shop and gives most of them away.
