Elkins Lodge at Elkins Resort on Priest Lake in North Idaho is an original structure from the 1930s, shown Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021. The resort dates back to the 1930s and rents out cabins by the week all summer long. Their award-winning restaurant is one of the reason’s for its popularity.

The docks at Elkins Resort on Priest Lake in 1937. Today’s resort, featuring a full-service marina, rental cabins and a fine dining restaurant, started in the 1930s as a summer-only camp catering to fishermen.

The family that operates Elkin’s at Priest Lake includes family matriarch Sharon Davis, far right, and her daughter’s family ,from left, Sidny Szybnski, 15; Tracie Szybnski (Sharon’s daughter); Morgan Szybnski, 13; Mike Szybnski; and Hanna Szybnski, 13. The resort, which includes the waterfront restaurant, seen at left, a marina and cabins spread through the wooded waterfront, dates back to the 1930s. Sharon’s husband Bob Davis died August 12, 2021. Bob and Sharon have run the lakefront resort since 1983 and Sharon still works up to four days a week. Tracie and Mike Szybnski are the owners of the resort and their daughters are all working in the business.

At Elkins Resort on Priest Lake in North Idaho the men’s and women’s restrooms are labeled “Bob” and “Sharon” after longtime owners Bob and Sharon Davis, shown Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021. Bob passed away recently after 38 years operating the popular lakefront resort. The resort dates back to the 1930s and rents out cabins by the week all summer long.
