Another sign that spring is coming - A yellow-bellied marmots poke a head up to look at people walking on the riverside trail near the Ruby River Hotel Wednesday, Mar. 17, 2021. A colony of marmots, recently emerged from winter hibernation, inhabit a den on the bank of the Spokane River near the hotel. Marmots often begin their hibernation as early as September and it can last up to 200 days each year.
