
A bench in remembrance of Katy Benoit
Dr. Bill Wharton, professor emeritus of the cello at the University of Idaho, plays a somber melody in front of the park bench placed in the green space in front of the University of Idaho administration building, shown Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021, the tenth anniversary of Katy Benoit’s death. Benoit was a cellist and a student of Wharton’s since she was in fourth grade. She died after being shot by a UI psychology professor in 2011. The professor, Ernesto Bustamante, then killed himself.
