The Thomas S. Foley United States Courthouse, aka the federal building, recently passed 50 years of age and will be considered for the National Register of Historic Places. Shown Tuesday, May 21, 2019. The designer of the building created the flaring cornice of the building to complement the spire of the Review Tower across the street.

This time capsule was buried in the plaza outside the Thomas S. Foley United States Courthouse, aka the federal building, when it was new in the 1960s. The capsule was dug up in the late 1980s or early 1990s during renovation of the landscaping. The capsule was a metal box, soldered shut, but which leaked and soaked the contents, which amounted to a set of blueprints, an old newspaper and a letter.
