Recent reports of lake cabin roofs caving in prompted Will Rogers to check his Sacheen Lake summer home in 1969 at N. 9606 Division. He cleared a 64-inch-deep covering off his own and a neighbor’s cabin. No apparent damage was caused to either house, he said. The road to the lake and summer homes was plowed. Most difficult part of the outing was breaking a trail from the road to the cabins.

Mammoth jaws were moving relentlessly on Lincoln in a new approach at removing apparently never-ending snows. This auger-conveyor loader was put into use in 1969. Crews worked round the clock and were moving from Sprague southward toward First. Other snow-moving techniques appeared to have bogged down, but steady progress was noted with the utilization of the auger-conveyor.
