Marble altar was designed by Mrs. DiBene and sculptured in Italy, as were the statues of Joseph and Mary. Carvings on altar symbolize people coming to church for food. Photo taken in 1969.

Christmas Eve Midnight Mass of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church will have the bishop of the Spokane Diocese, the Most Reverend Bernard J. Topel, as main celebrant and preacher. The pastor of Sacred Heart, the Reverend Charles D. Skok, and some of the participants in the midnight service are shown near the altar. Others (from the left), are Rebecca Manning, one of the leaders of the youth folk group who also plays the guitar; Mrs. Daniel R. Murphy, first woman to serve as a lay reader at Sacred Heart, and Mary Lynn Mauch, other leader of the folk group.
