German-born Eckart Preu is music director and conductor of the Spokane Symphony, photographed in the Fox Theater on April 22. Preu, who has been conductor since 2004, will retire next month from his roles with the Spokane Symphony, but will continue onward as conductor with the Portland Symphony Orchestra and as music director for the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra.
