The Rose Theatre opened in 1907 as a vaudeville house. It reopened in 1992 as an independent movie theater and is home to the Port Townsend Film Festival, which was founded seven years later in 1999.

The N.D. Hill Building on Water Street once housed the old Town Tavern, which basically served as Port Townsend’s living room from the 1960s through the 1990s. After Water Street Brewing and Ale House closed, Conservatory Coastal Home, an upscale beachy decor store, moved into the first-floor storefront.
