New life for Crescent Christmas decorations

Historic Christmas window display figures from the old Crescent store have been uncovered and given new life at select locations in downtown Spokane this Yule season.

Rotationg Nutcracker Ballet figurines grace the window to the Davenport Home gift shop, Tuesday, Dec 12, 2017. The figures were used as props for a Christmas window in The Crescent department store decades ago.

In this 1958 photo, one of the large Spokane Christmas displays is the huge Christmas tree made up entirely of lights at the Crescent, W710 Riverside. The tree, some 75 feet in height, was designed by the Crescent's display director, Howard Schneider. The Christmas tree light display uses 4,500 lights. The tree is on the building's marquee.
