The American Association of Private Rail Car Owners
The American Association of Private Rail Car Owners left Sandpoint, Idaho on Monday, September 19 enrout to Spokane. The group travels the country in restored rail cars and will celebrate their 39th annual convention Sept 22-24. The stop is part of an excursion that also hits St. Louis, Chicago, Minneapolis, Glacier National Park and Portland.

The aft section of the restored train car City of Spokane, is rounded with many windows for watching the landscape go by, especially if the car is placed at the end of the lineup, as this one was Monday. A special train made up of private railcars came through Sandpoint and Spokane, powered by two Amtrak locomotives.

There were a total of three domed observation cars in the special combination of restored and historic rail cars that pass through Sandpoint, shown here, and Spokane Monday. In these cars, benches and tables are situated on platforms in the raised areas so that passengers can watch the landscape go by from the elevated perch.
