Rosewood Club apartment fire

A married couple died in an apartment fire in north Spokane Wednesday afternoon. The two-alarm fire started around 4 p.m. at the Rosewood Club apartments at 401 E Magnesium Road, Assistant Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer said. A firefighter was also hospitalized with severe second- and third-degree burns, the Spokane Fire Deparment firefighters union said. Schaeffer said that’s a rare occurrence.

Firefighters fight an apartment blaze in which a man and woman died Wednesday afternoon in north Spokane. The two-alarm fire started around 4 p.m. at the Rosewood Club apartments at 401 E. Magnesium Road, Assistant Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer said.

An injured firefighter, a 29-year-old who joined the Spokane Fire Department about a year ago, was burned on his upper torso when he led his crew in trying to enter the apartment. HeÕs hospitalized in serious condition at Sacred Heart Medical Center with second- and third-degree burns.

As the Rosewood Club apartments burn, a resident is distraught over her missing cat. She later recovered the animal who was unharmed.
