Aware of her status as a true freshman on a team looking to defend its Big Sky championship, Kourtney Grossman entered this Eastern Washington women’s basketball season with the attitude that she would be happy for any playing time she could get.

The result – another loss, Eastern Washington’s fourth straight – wasn’t what Dan Monson wanted to see.

As both men’s basketball teams approached their sidelines during the final media timeout on Thursday, an uncharacteristic quiet came over the crowd at Reese Court in Cheney.

In the middle of the second half of Monday’s basketball game against Montana State, Eastern Washington guard Sam Stockton grabbed an offensive rebound and drove toward the paint, with Sebastian Hartmann standing near the 3-point line to Stockton’s right.
