Education: Graduated from Ritzville High School in 1983. Graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in business with a dual concentration in accounting and finance. Graduated with a masters of business administration in 2005 from Gonzaga University. Is a certified public accountant.

The next Spokane County treasurer will be one of two men with years of experience in the county treasurers office or a retired colonel who recently concluded a 35-year career in the U.S. Army largely specialized in high-level contracting and acquisitions.
State Rep. Mike Volz is – so far – the top-rated choice of the Spokane County Republican Party to be the next county treasurer.
The candidates being considered for a nomination to be Spokane County’s next treasurer include a pair of treasurer’s office employees, some previous contenders for public office and a few political newcomers.
The Spokane County Republican Party will reject “cronyism” and consider applications from anyone eligible for appointment as the county treasurer after Congressman-elect Michael Baumgartner vacates that seat in January, said Rob Linebarger, a member of party leadership.
