The Candidates

Brandon Casey

Education: Graduated from Gonzaga Prep in 1992, earned bachelor's degrees in economics and philosophy from Eastern Washington University in 1999, completed the Washington Law Clerk program in 2003.

Work Experience: General service staff at Paine Hamblen from 1994-1999. Law clerk at Casey Law, 2000-2003. Attorney at Casey Law from 2004 to present. Became principal in 2005 and took over the practice in 2017.

Political Experience: First run for office.

Family: Divorced. Has five sons. Brother is Marshall Casey, an attorney who ran unsuccessfully for a seat on Washington’s Court of Appeals Division III in 2020.

Campaign finance: Raised more than $55,000 as of Oct. 1, 2024, according to the state Public Disclosure Commission. Contributors include his brother and fellow attorney Marshall Casey, Gilbert Law Firm, Spokane Valley City Councilwoman Laura Padden, former U.S. Attorney Jim McDevitt, Matthew Albrecht, and Craig Swapp and Associates. Brandon Casey has contributed more than $15,000 to his campaign.

Education: Berkeley Preparatory School 1997 in Tampa, Florida. Earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in 2001. Graduated from Gonzaga Law School in 2005.

Work Experience: Criminal defense work at a local law firm from 2005-2008. Opened Polin Law office in 2008. Received the sexually violent predator state contract in 2012. Largely did civil commitment work until the practice closed in 2022 when Polin was appointed to the Superior Court bench. Currently serves as presiding family law judge.

Political Experience: Appointed by Gov. Jay Inslee to the Spokane County Superior Court bench in 2022. Ran unopposed in 2023.

Family: Married to deputy prosecutor, George Gagnon. Has three children.

Campaign finance: Raised more than 68,000 as of Oct. 1, according to the state Public Disclosure Commission. Contributions include more than $30,000 from herself. Donors include Spokane County Superior Court Judges Tony Hazel, Annette Plese, Shelly Szambelan and Charnelle Bjelkengren, and retired judges Ellen Kalama-Clark and Michael Price.
