Family: Married to Dean Schmidt. Has three adult children.

Top donors include the political action committees for the Association of Builders and Contractors and the Inland Northwest Associated General Contractors, BNSF Railway, Kuney Construction and Hollis Barnett and his wife, Elizabeth Barnett. Hollis Barnett serves as vice president of Spokane-based Garco Construction.
