Education: Earned bachelor’s degree in economics from John Carroll University in Ohio and a law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law

Work experience: An attorney with Herzfeld & Piotrowski in Boise, Piotrowski has practiced labor and employment law since 1994. Pressed a long and successful court fight on behalf of seriously disabled Idahoans whose level of care was sharply cut by the state Department of Health and Welfare in a change to Medicaid reimbursement levels. Represented labor unions in successful challenges to anti-union laws passed by the Idaho Legislature; and represented Wal-Mart employees in a successful 10-year court fight over pay.

Political experience: First run for office.

Family: Married. Has two children.

A resident of Glen Ellen, Calif., Fox filed to run as a Democrat in the primary election for Idaho's 1st District congressional seat. She's not responded to requests for information from reporters. She's an advocate of herbal supplements who originally is from Indiana.

Staniela Nikolova

A student at the University of Idaho, Nikolova served as an Idaho Senate page during her senior year of high school. She is self-funding her campaign, and has pledged that if she is elected, $50,000 of her salary from each year she serves in Congress would be donated to scholarships for Idaho college students. She advocates gradually increasing the minimum wage, national standards for police use of force, and rehabilitation rather than prison sentences for addicts.
