Washington holds its presidential primary on May 24. The results, however, only will count on the Republican side. State Democrats will ignore the results of the election and pick their delegates for their party’s National Convention based on the Democratic Caucus in March. Republican delegates for the GOP National Convention, however, will be bound to vote for their party’s nominee based on the primary outcome, though only in the first round of voting. After that, Republican delegates, selected through a series of caucuses and conventions won’t be bound to any candidate.
