Political experience: Served as King County sheriff from 1997 to 2004. Served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2005 to 2019.

Family: Married to Julie Reichert. Has three children.

Campaign finance: Raised more than $5.5 million as of Oct. 2, 2024, according to the state Public Disclosure Commission. Donors include the Cascade Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association, National Safety Inc., NBA hall of famer John Stockton, and Washington Affordable Housing Council.
