The Vox Box

Not Your Average Cider…

I know Mariah already posted the Recipes of the Week, but I thought I'd share one more. If you're tired of the same old hot chocolate/apple cider routine during the winter, here's a new warm drink to try... A Northwest Passage. The recipe I'm giving you is a kid-friendly, non-alcoholic twist on a cocktail, that is often served around the Northwest. (Like in Seattle...) Its cider of a sort, but slightly different. Enjoy! :D

Ingredients: 1/2 Tbsp. Butter 1 Tsp. Brown Sugar Dash of Cinn. Dash of Nutmeg Spiced Cider Drink Mix, (and appropriate amount of water-according to package directions)

All you have to do is melt the butter, boil the water, and combine everything in a mug. Nothin' fancy, but it's very delicious! Stay Warm!

In 2006, then-editor Steve Smith of The Spokesman-Review had the idea of starting a publication for an often forgotten audience: teenagers. The Vox Box was a continuation of the Vox, an all-student staffed newspaper published by The Spokesman-Review. High school student journalists who staffed the Vox made all content decisions as they learn about the trade of journalism. This blog's mission was to give students an opportunity to publish their voices. The Vox Box and the Vox wrapped up in June 2009, but you can follow former staffers' new blog at http://voxxiez.blogspot.com.
