What’s a road diet?

We have plenty of wide roads in Spokane, the leavings of decades of car-centered city planning. While that generally equates to lane upon lane of traffic - think the Valley's Sprague-Appleway couplet - it also offers an opportunity for city planners to make our streets more hospitable for all users.

Here's a handy explainer about what roads can be, with little more than re-striping (AKA putting new paint on the pavement).
