Classic cookie recipes from Dorothy Dean
Cecille Aldredge of Otis Orchards found these recipes in an old cookbook that belonged to her mother. When she died, Aldredge received some of the books in her mom's collection.
The Spokesman-Review Food section had been looking for old Dorothy Dean recipes in need of a makeover for the new millennium. The plan is to revamp them in time for the 80th anniversary of the start of the Dorothy Dean Homemakers Service. Dorothy Dean was the pseudonym for the editors and writers of the newspaper's home economics department.
"I don't know if the cookie recipes need any changing," Aldredge wrote. "It was fun finding these gems. Wish I had more to send you."
Too Many Cooks wasn't sure these oldies but goodies needed any modernization, either. Here are originals for everyone to enjoy.
Cheers!
