Chad White swaps San Diego for Spokane

Spokane native Chad White is slated to appear on the next season of Bravo’s “Top Chef.”

Shortly after the two-day premiere, he plans to move back to Spokane and open a restaurant. Native Provisions - "where borderless flavor meets the Inland Northwest," according to its website - is expected to open in spring 2016.

White made the announcement via Twitter over the weekend.

Meantime, the series, dubbed “Top Chef California,” takes a road trip through the Golden State, with stops in Palm Springs, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and San Diego.

The two-night premiere of the competition culinary show’s 13th season airs at 10 p.m. Dec. 2 and 3.

White owns two restaurants in San Diego - Común Taqueria  and Craft Pizza Company – and one in Tijuana, Mexico:  La Justina. The 32-year-old chef lives in both places, according to his BravoTV.com bio, which also describes his specialty as “eclectic urban style and Baja influenced food.”

According to Eater San Diego, Común is closing.

If you're in San Diego in early December, White's having a goodbye party from 7 to 10 p.m. Dec. 3 at Carnitas Snack Shack.
