This week's Then and Now column is about Mount Spokane and the Civilian Conservation Corps.  Camp Francis Cook opened there in 1934 and the 200 or so CCC workers built trails, shelters and other things needed to make the fairly new state park more accessible.  The young men, aged 18-25, also improved the road originally pioneered by Francis Cook, an early newspaperman and developer.
