Then and Now preview: The Whitten Block

Preview of Monday's Then and Now: The Whitten Block is named after early businessman L.B. Whitten, who moved to the Northwest from Virginia in a mule-drawn wagon. He showed up in Spokane in 1880. He is known for his drug store and many real estate projects.  The ground floor houses the Post St. Ale House, a popular hangout for lovers of good beer. It has also been associated with Louis Davenport and it predates the giant hotel across the street. Does anyone remember a favorite store or business in the the 1890 building? One longstanding business was a men's clothing store called Klothes Kloset.
