Morning links: Grading the Cougars

Greetings from the west side.

I'm over here in Seattle spending the bye week working on a couple stories I wouldn't otherwise have time to pursue during the season. Since I'm in town, I'm also going to chip in our coverage of the Washington and Seahawks games.

Our Cougars coverage isn't going to stop just because we're missing a couple bye week practices. In that spirit, here are our quarter-season position grades for Washington State. Stefanie Loh did a Q&A with assistant coach Eric Mele about the status of WSU's special teams after three games. There's not much else out there being written about the dormant Cougars, but here is CougCenter's daily post.

In other Pac-12 news… The Pac-12 South doesn't look like such a dominant division anymore. … Stanford quarterback Kevin Hogan may not be able to play against Oregon State tonight. … Will Rich Rodgriguez finally beat Jim Mora's Bruins? … Oregon plays a ranked opponent this weekend, but will a soft schedule hurt the Ducks' playoff chances?

Two bonus links today: We pass along a story by Holly Anderson about why Kentucky football never seems to have its  turn in the spotlight and a story Megan Garber wrote for The Atlantic about how That One Song You Always Hear in Ken Burns Documentaries earned its prestigious title.
