Morning links: Craig Bohl, a new commit, and practice

We begin today with some opposition research. Actually, it's just a story about Wyoming's coach, Craig Bohl, who hasn't won much in Laramie but still has a pretty impressive coaching resume. We've also got our practice report featuring Thursday Night Football, post-practice video of Clay McGuire and a blog post about WSU's newest committed recruit.

But there's more! Brian Anderson's detailed previews are always can't-miss reads and he's done it again with an in-depth look at the Cowboys. … I encourage everyone to read this Grantland story about paying college athletes and the Pac-12. … Stefanie Loh has a story about former WSU star Marcus Trufant. … The Pac-12 football weekend begins today when Arizona State takes on New Mexico.

One more quick thing: When I first started doing these links, I often included a bonus story that had nothing to do with the Pac-12, but was a piece of narrative journalism that I found to be particularly engaging and well executed. I'm not really sure why I got away from that, probably because I exhausted my personal favorites that I read over and over again.

Well, I'm going bring the bonus link back. But instead of linking dusty old sports stories from 40 years ago, I'm going to link to contemporary stuff that I think is valuable. I'm going to start by passing along this Esquire story by Mark Warren about one of the greatest living war correspondents. If you have time to read it I hope you find it valuable, and if you ever come across a story you like and would like to share with me I hope you will.
