Morning links: Freshmen play, but not at WSU
*Today at 11 a.m. I'll be holding our weekly live WSU football chat here on SportsLink.
The number of freshmen playing early has been the talk of the Pac-12. But at Washington State, the Cougars are handing out redshirts.
So far, only five freshmen have played. One of those is punter Zach Charme, which is a little different than an 18-year-old playing at a contact position. And while one or two more could certainly see the field, there hasn't been the same urgency to get recruits into games like there has been at California, USC and UW.
That's the thrust of our Pac-12 notebook lead. In the paper we also have my weekly Pac-12 Power Rankings. On the blog we have our daily practice notes and post-practice video of Mike Leach and Clay McGuire. The Pac-12 media named Luke Falk the conference Player of the Week for offense, but at Cougcenter they think a different Cougar was WSU's best. Stefanie Loh at the Seattle Times has story about WSU's freshmen. Wyoming gets its starting quarterback back this week, but his backup is out for the season. Oregon QB Vernon Adams has a broken finger. Jim Mora didn't like a question about using a player late in the game who was then injured.
